Perhaps the most remarkable thing about Monday's Supreme Court ruling in the Walmart sex discrimination case was that it was unanimous. The trial lawyers finally lost a big one.
Trial lawyers are notorious for their class action lawsuits where the suing parties get a small fraction of the money and the lawyers get the bulk of it. No wonder they contribute so much money to Democrats, who are fine with the status quo and opposed to tort reform.
Walmart has a strong anti-discrimination policy. This lawsuit was brought on behalf of 1.6 million female employees. The court decided that the case was too large and that the experiences of a few women could not be extrapolated to all of the company's female employees.
Pay equity is a continuing debate as some women choose to work for less money because of other concerns, like children. The court made the right decision in this case.
