It leads to weakness and eventually disintegration. Adultery in pagan Greece and Rome was punishable by death, as it was in Old Testament Israel. So adulteration of soul and spiritâ€"like physical adulteryâ€"leads to a separation from fellowship with God. Some married people have affairs because they think they will be happy.
